Yes, usually. It is advisable to check with the hospital or home’s policy on external healthcare providers. Sometimes, an agreement or waiver must be signed and approved by management before treatment can be provided. A parking surcharge may apply for acute hospitals (Foothills, Rockyview, Peter Lougheed, etc.)

No, Calgary Home Physiotherapy is a private service and is not under contract to AHS to provide publicly funded services.

No, you do not need a referral to start treatment because physiotherapists are primary healthcare providers. However, if you are using extended healthcare benefits, some insurers require a doctor’s note for physiotherapy costs to be reimbursed. Please check with your insurer to ask about the documentation requirements of your policy.

We do not take WCB cases.

Due to car accident benefit regulations, we regret that we cannot bill your insurer at our rates. You can, however, choose to pay out of pocket or use your health spending account.

Each health discipline and therapist has a different set of techniques and approaches to injury. Calgary Home Physiotherapy’s treatment approach focuses on patient education, manual (hands-on) therapy, simple yet effective exercises, pain management modalities, and a strong commitment to put you in charge of your own health. If you are not achieving the expected results, or your symptoms are beyond our scope of practice, we may refer you to another healthcare provider.

No, we will bring the necessary equipment to you, including a portable bed if needed. It may help to have some basic exercise equipment, but it is not a requirement. Resistance bands that will generally suffice for most exercise programs.

We provide physiotherapy within the municipal boundaries of Calgary. In some circumstances, we may be able to travel a short distance outside the city (Cochrane, Airdrie, Chestermere, Okotoks, etc.) and a travel surcharge will apply.

We conveniently offer appointments every day of the week – 9am to 8pm weekdays and 10am to 5pm weekends. If you require special accommodation outside of these hours, please contact us.
